Councillor Desjarlais calls the meeting to order at 4:03 pm.

    That the Minutes of the Meeting of the Accessibility Advisory Committee dated April 5, 2022, be adopted as presented.

    Carried.

Doug Diet, President of the LaSalle Rowing Club presented information regarding the para-rowing club and advised of accessibility barriers experienced by the Club while using the Riverdance Building.

Scott Bisson, Manager of Culture and Recreation presented the report.

    That the report of the Manager of Culture and Recreation dated May 24, 2022 (CR-2022-19) regarding the NaviLens Wayfinding System be received; and that an Administrative report providing further information be brought to the Accessibility Committee in 2023; and that this system be considered for the Event Center.

    That the report of the Deputy Clerk dated May 3, 2022 (CL-2022-10) regarding the Town of LaSalle 2023 to 2027 Multi-Year Accessibility Plan be received.

    Carried.

Councillor Riccio-Spagnuolo suggested that events such as the Night Market and Strawberry Festival have early access times for those attendees with accessible needs.

Jason Thibodeau suggested a sensory time be held during festivals and events with lowered sound/music.

Mike Gerard attended the Strawberry Festival with members from Community Living and suggested a larger space for wheelchairs in pathways and lineups.

Councillor Carrick requested increased social media output regarding progress made on accessible initiatives to better educate the public.

Mike Gerard suggested that businesses be awarded when accessible features are implemented and that the Committee should consider attending festivals to provide outreach to the community. 

Councillor Desjarlais requested that the Accessibility Advisory Committee be presented with the site plan for the 2023 Strawberry Festival.

The next scheduled Meeting will be held on August 2, 2022, at 4:00 p.m.

The meeting is adjourned at the call of the Chair at 4:55 p.m.
