Mayor Bondy provides a reminder that from May 9 to May 15, we celebrate National Police Week. Mayor Bondy states that this year’s theme is “Working together to keep our communities safe”. Public safety involves a collaborative effort within police agencies and between police services, first responders, as well as social and community organizations. Mayor Bondy provides his thanks to LaSalle Police Service for their commitment to keep our community safe. Mayor Bondy acknowledges that there are many businesses and organizations who partner with LaSalle Police, and together they all play a critical role to protect our community.
Mayor Bondy recognizes that May 10 to May 16 is National Nursing Week. Mayor Bondy sincerely thanks all nurses across Essex County and Windsor for their commitment and determination to help us through the COVID-19 pandemic. Mayor Bondy states that they are an important part of our community during this pandemic, and every day.
Mayor Bondy provides a reminder that May 11 is Ontario’s annual Day of Action on Litter, a day to encourage everyone to work together to raise awareness about the impacts of litter and how we can reduce waste. Mayor Bondy states it is a reminder of the importance of our LaSalle greenspaces and parks. Mayor Bondy provides his thanks to the community for putting litter where it belongs.
Mayor Bondy reminds all to please complete the Canada 2021 Census. Mayor Bondy states that responses will help plan services that support employment, education, public transportation, and hospitals in our community and in our region.
Mayor Bondy recognized that as the weather continues to improve it can be frustrating as we deal with the continuing pandemic restrictions. Mayor Bondy states that while this ‘restriction medicine’ can be difficult to understand and accept, the medical professionals and senior levels of government continue to believe that this is the best course of action. Mayor Bondy, like most residents, look forward to the day that we can get back to the new normal, and provide the services that our residents have come to expect and enjoy.
However until that day comes, Mayor Bondy states that we must abide by the rules as set out by the Provincial government and local public health officials. Mayor Bondy states that we continue to advocate for a balanced approach, but these decisions are difficult when trying to balance the needs of many. Mayor Bondy reminds all to please continue to follow the health guidelines regarding masking, social distancing and avoiding crowds and gatherings. Mayor Bondy hopes that with the positive trends we have been seeing recently will continue and we can put this all behind us.
