Mayor Meloche stated that on January 25th, the Town was hit with a snowstorm, and the LaSalle Public Works crew did a great job. They worked extremely hard to ensure the roads were clear and safe for LaSalle residents. She thanked the team for their hard work and dedication.
Mayor Meloche noted that the night of the snowstorm was also the night of the Budget Open House at the Vollmer. Due to the weather, the Open House was cancelled and rescheduled for February 1st. This was the first time LaSalle hosted a Budget Open House, and many residents visited the Vollmer to inquire about the budget process. Mayor Meloche thanked all members of Administration who were in attendance that evening and looks forward to continuing this process in the future.
Mayor Meloche stated that last week the Town held its Budget Sessions and after a chance to deliberate, Council decided to send the budget back to find some savings while keeping the Town’s service level the same. The budget will be presented to Council again at the February 28th Regular Council Meeting.
Mayor Meloche commented that residents have had the chance to enjoy pickle ball during the day at the new event centre and announced that evening sessions have now been added. Pickle ball runs Tues/Wed/Thurs until the end of March. Visit the Town’s website or Facebook page for session times.
Mayor Meloche noted that there are some upcoming dates to remember. There will be a free movie night at the Event Centre on Friday, February 17th. Doors open at 6 p.m. and the movie Minions will begin at 7 p.m. Monday, February 20th is Family Day, which means municipal offices will be closed but the Vollmer will be open for special family day activities. Visit the LaSalle Culture and Recreation social media pages for information on 'Family in Motion Day' activities scheduled at the Vollmer Centre.
